The Saskatchewan Capital Network is a member-based, non-profit organization of Saskatchewan angel investors. We currently have 35 investor members interested in seeing good investment opportunities in startup and growth-focused entrepreneurial companies, particularly those based in Saskatchewan.
Through presentation and networking events, Saskatchewan Capital Network facilitates the introduction of investment-ready entrepreneurial companies to potential investors. Events are held in Saskatoon and Regina based on deal flow – typically every two to three months.
Saskatchewan Capital Network investor members are interested in technology-based companies with a proprietary product or service, as well as companies in other industries with high growth potential.
Saskatchewan Capital Network does not manage a pool of funds. All investor members make their own investment decisions.
Our objective is to encourage Saskatchewan entrepreneurs to build successful, sustainable businesses.
Angel networks are key to a growing entrepreneurial community
Entrepreneurs seeking financial capital can spend lots of time and effort trying to meet one-on-one with potential investors to pitch their business investment opportunity – time and effort that could be better spent commercializing their product or service.
Saskatchewan Capital Network was formed to support investors and provide entrepreneurs with a more effective means to access financial capital. We connect entrepreneurs with a group of potential investors with one presentation.
Saskatchewan Capital Network works closely with organizations that provide business and/or technological advice and support to entrepreneurial ventures to become investment-ready. Investor members are also encouraged to refer promising entrepreneurial businesses.
Investment readiness is the ability of an entrepreneur, who is seeking equity or debt capital, to understand the specific needs of an investor and to be able to respond to these needs by articulating a credible business plan and model for attaining a satisfactory return on investment for the investor.
Becoming investment-ready is very beneficial process for entrepreneurs as it provides information in these key areas:
- understanding of equity and debt financing
- understanding angel investors' expectations
- development of a realistic and credible business plan and an appropriate business structure
- development of a presentation that articulates the size and scale of the opportunity, the quality and skills of the management team, how intellectual property is protected, the amount of capital being sought, what incremental changes will be made with the investment, what portion of the company the investor will acquire, and a clear exit strategy for investors.
